Ch Short Story

Cheeseburger Picnic at Cherry Tree Park

It was a cheerful day at Cherry Tree Park. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the children were ready for a cheeseburger picnic.

By the grill, Chuck and Charlee were flipping sizzling chicken.
"Careful with the charcoal!" Chuck said.
"Don't worry," Charlee smiled. "I’ve got it just right — not too crispy!"

On a red checkered blanket, Chelsea was crunching her chips and sipping her chocolate milk.
"I’m chillin over here,” she called. “Let me know when the chicken’s ready!”

Near the picnic table, Chase and Chaya were already digging in.
"I picked the biggest cheeseburger I could find!" said Chase, chomping happily.
Chaya grinned. "I’m sticking with chicken — and maybe a little cheesecake after!"

The table was packed with all their favorite foods:
Cherries, cheese, chilies, chicken, cheeseburgers, cheesecake, chips, and even more chocolate milk.

Overhead, the old cherry tree stretched its branches, full of shiny red fruit. A gentle breeze made the leaves chatter softly.

After they ate, the children played chase in the grass, then sat in a circle and chose their favorite ch food of the day.

“I like chicken,” said Charlee.
Chips!” said Chelsea.
Cheesecake,” said Chaya with a giggle.
Chase just smiled. “Cheeseburgers, of course!”
