Car Ride to the Countryside

Kit and her sister Kate wanted to go to the countryside.

“Let’s go! Get in the car, kids,” said Dad.

They wore their cozy coats and buckled up in their car seats.

The car drove past cows in a big cornfield.“Look at the cows!” said Kate. “I see six!”

“I see colorful leaves,” said Kit. “And a cool red barn!”

They stopped to buy apples out of a cart and collect countless leaves.

”Let’s take them home and hang them in the kitchen,” Kate said.

“How about some hot cocoa and coffee?” Asked Dad.

“Yes, please!” the kids called.

“Achoo!” Kit sneezed. “I think I’m catching a cold. We’d better go home.”

“Oh no! You don’t want to miss the first day of kindergarten!” said Kate.

They all climbed in the car and headed home.

“I love the countryside,” announced Kit. “Can we come back?”

“How about next weekend?” Dad responded.

They all agreed and snuggled in for a cozy drive back home.
