"The Race for Fun"
The sun came up, the day was new,
A race began — not one, but two!
A girl of six began to run,
Right beside her, a smiling nun.
They dashed through grass, they dashed for fun,
Each holding tight a water gun!
They sprayed and giggled on the run,
And cooled off in the morning sun.
The nun sat down and said, “I’m done,”
Then took a bite of a gooey bun.
The girl sat too, her race was won—
What a silly day of fun!
Your Turn
Use some of the pictures or words you saw today to think up your own story.
Draw or write out your story, then read it to a family member or friend.
Will your story be silly? A mystery? An adventure story?
You get to decide!
