1: Where Questions

Where Does He Work?

Can your child figure out the answer to this Wh question based on the pictures?

Teach your child that looking at the details in pictures can give you clues.

The man has a jacket, helmet, and fire extinguisher, like a firefighter.

  • The top picture has several bright red fire trucks.

  • The middle picture has a playground.

  • The bottom picture looks like a place to buy shoes.

Talking through these clues helps us make connections.

Did your child figure out where he works?

A group of objects that all start with s on a white background; six, sub, sand, soccerball, sink, sack, soap, sucker sandwich, slow sign, suitcase, salsa, seven, seahorse, and scissors.

2: The /s/ Sound

This activity can be used several ways.

as a simple vocabulary activity by naming the pictures

a matching activity

to work on early literacy by listening for the beginning /s/ sound

as a speech activity to practice saying the /s/ sound in words.

3: Play Charades

This game is FUN and helps develop language at the same time.

Does your child understand the actions they need to do to show the activities?

For example, to show eating ice cream requires you to hold your hand to your mouth and use your tongue to pretend to lick.

The pictures can be used to give your child clues but see if they can do this without using props.
