November Preschool Speech Activities You Can Do At Home

Three activity ideas you can do with your preschooler to boost their speech and language skills.

Four pictures of kids eating foods with the foods they are eating shown down the middle of the page; sandwich, slice of pizza, cheeseburger, and spaghetti.

1: Follow Their Lead

Find our Favorite Foods. This page is more than a matching activity; it’s a reminder to follow your child’s lead. What do they want to talk about? What are they interested in? Get your child to talk about their interests, favorite foods, toys, videos, friends, etc.

Four pictures of people making pizza with the verbs; roll, spread, bake, and eat.

2: Daily Routines

Verbs in the Kitchen. Talk about the main idea of these pictures, “Look, they are making a pizza.” Read the verbs aloud. Point to a picture and pause. Can your child make up a sentence about what is happening? Did they use verb that was given? If they need help model a sentence for them: ”They are rolling the dough.”

Fourteen pictures of objects with L blends; fly, glasses, blocks, clock, glue, plate, plane, blue, flashlight, blueberries, blanket, plum, and a clown.

3: L Blends

Language: Use this I Spy page as a simple vocabulary activity by naming the pictures. Speech: All the words in this game begin with L blends. Use these pictures to talk about beginning sounds or for kids who need to practice the L blend speech sounds.
