1: Learn Basic Shapes

Hearts are Everywhere. Let’s learn about shapes using things in the world around us.

Here are some examples of things that are heart-shaped.

Can your child name these things?

Look for more heart shapes around your home.

Challenge: What other shapes can your child name?

2: Identify What Doesn’t Belong

Finding something that does NOT fit a category is a basic concept of exclusion.

This can be practiced at home by removing toys from a set that don’t go together.

For example: taking a crayon out of a container of plastic animals.

3: What’s Missing?

This is an example of a simple game you can play at home.

Choose a few objects and put them out on the table or floor.

Name each object out loud together. Repeat it a few times so your child can remember them.

Have them close their eyes then remove an object.

Can your child repeat the names in their head to tell what is missing?

This builds their short-term verbal memory.

Note: These words have the –ar sound in them.
